    Evelyn Irene Roy, 96, formerly of the Hesper, Iowa area, died on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa. She and her husband farmed in Tama and Marshall counties for 31 years before moving to northeast Iowa, where they continued to farm until they retired.

For those of you who don't know, we had one of the worst fires in Gladbrook history last Sunday night involving the Wentzien Hardware Store, Masonic Temple and Smith's General Store along with smoke damage to Day in the Sun.

Some chose to make Book "Trees" and "Snowmen" from Entire Books, while some used Torn Pages for Ornaments & Cards! Next Craft Day will be Monday, Dec. 12th at 2 pm!     Firefighters from Garwin and Traer have been summoned for mutual aid for the Gladbrook Fire Department to battle a blaze in what was described in a radio dispatch as the Masonic Temple Building at 420 2nd Street. The first alarm was sounded about 7:30 a.m. on on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Flames have been reported coming windows in the basement of the the two-story brick structure.
