The event was started in 2009 by Anne Coehlo and was the beginning of the Booster Club's book giveaways, which have become so successful they are able to give books out to all 325 students at Los Molinos Elementary School four times a year, said Booster Club President Melissa Peters.

    Red Bluff >> Unsafe speed reportedly caused the first of two collisions about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Southbound Interstate 5, south of Wilcox Road that left two people injured and blocked traffic, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman. Gerber resident Anthony James Carter, 33, was driving south at speeds unsafe for the heavy downpour occurring at the time of the first collision, when he lost control of his Lincoln Mark VII, which ran off the road and hit an embankment causing the vehicle to overturn before coming to rest on its roof in the left lane, the CHP officer said.
