    On a challenging third day at the British Open, no golfer shot better than 3-under par at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland. Harold Varner III started his round strong, shooting 1-under on the front nine, but a double bogey on the 10th hole started off a rocky stretch for the Gastonia native and Forestview High School graduate.  Varner bogeyed holes 12, 16 and 17 before finishing with a par on 18. Heading into the final round of play Sunday, he is 5-over for the tournament with a 54-hole score of 218, tied for 50th on the leaderboard.  Phil Mickleson and Henrik Stenson continue to battle it out at the top of the leaderboard.
