    WORCESTER – The prosecution rested its case Wednesday in the Worcester Superior Court trial of two men charged in the 2013 slaying of a Fitchburg man in a botched robbery. Dax A. Gibson, 39, of Gardner, and Joseph Dale, 23, of Brooklyn, New York, are co-defendants in the killing of Luis R. Rodriguez, 26, who was also known as “Pookie.” Mr. Gibson, the alleged gunman, is accused of trying to enter Mr. Rodriguez's apartment at 82 Marshall St. in Fitchburg to rob him of drugs and money on June 21, 2013, and opening fire.

The charge of assault with the intent to commit murder was for the stabbing of Jacob Vaillancourt, 29, of Gardner, who is hospitalized at UMass Memorial Medical Center n Worcester with multiple stab wounds.
