    Last Monday, the City Council raised the salaries of more than a third of the town's employees, bringing them in line with the average pay of employees in similar positions elsewhere. The council also approved a change to Garden City's pension plan that, when it goes into effect next year, will allow for an employee who has contributed 20 years of service to the city to retire at age 55. Although council members held off on a third proposal to implement merit increases, Mayor Tennyson Holder said that resolution isn't off the table.

    On Tuesday, the CAT board of directors unanimously approved a resolution that recommends to the county commission an "expansion of the special district for transit services to include all areas of Chatham County, both incorporated as well as unincorporated." The resolution is the result of a study, completed recently by the University of South Florida's Center for Urban Transportation Research, that recommended expanding services to areas of western Chatham County, including the burgeoning city of Pooler and Garden City, the home of the port.

After sampling Matt's succulent sliders and hot dogs, not to mention the hand-cut fries, you know I had to make my way out to Main Street to see what new delights he is cookin' up! First thing you notice is the parking lot slap full of big rigs, and dudes, both slim and burly, making their way across the pavement with big smiles of anticipation.
