    The Southern golf team dominated the five-team field Tuesday night after posting an 18-stroke victory during a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division match at Cliffside Golf Course in the Old French City. The Tornadoes posted four of the top five overall scores at the event en route to a winning tally of 172, which included a pair of co-medalist honorees in Jansen Anderson and Jarrett Hupp - both of whom fired identical rounds of 6-over par 42. Eastern finished second with a team total of 190, followed by Wahama with a 210 and Belpre with a 234.

    Last August, firefighters with the Point Pleasant and Gallipolis Fire Departments responded to a fire just outside of Point Pleasant that took the life of a young man named Dominick Young. PPVFD Chief Jeremy Bryant said Young's grandmother Barbara Hill along with other family members chose to give back as their way of coping with their loss and to help other children learn fire safety.
