    A Fries man who escaped arrest Nov. 26 is behind bars and two accomplices accused of helping him with the escape have also been arrested. According to Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner, Marcus Alan Hicks, 33, was arrested by members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Galax Police Department at Northway Apartments on Dec. 5 in Galax at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sheriff J.B. Gardner reported that deputies received information of Hicks' location from a citizen in the community which led to the arrest.

Gardner, deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff's Officer were involved in a pursuit on August 28 after receiving a call from the Galax Police Department that their officers were in pursuit of a small white Chevrolet for a suspect who had fled his probation officer while being served a probation violation. Gardner said deputies proceeded to the Pipers Gap area of Carroll County and began looking for the car.
