Rakim Lamont Russell, 17 of Fruitland, was shot at some point late Saturday/early Sunday morning and then transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the owner of the two-story, single family home on Devonshire Drive was alerted to the fire around 10:45 p.m. when an automatic fire alarm went off.

Officials learned the victim along with two witnesses were driving down Whitesburg Road when they stopped near the intersection of Whitesburg Road and Five Bridges Road to assist with someone that had struck a deer with their vehicle. The suspect is identified as Kenny George White of South Camden Avenue in Fruitland.

    FRUITLAND , Md.- Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged 42-year-old Robert Stidham, Jr. with 1st and 2nd degree arson in connection with a fire which occurred December 1st in the 4000 Block of Skylar Drive in Fruitland. According to the State Fire Marshal's office, Stidham was identified as the owner and occupant of the mobile home.The office said the fire caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to the structure, and was quickly brought under control by fire crews from Fruitland, Allen and Salisbury Station 1. An investigation into the fire's cause determined that Stidham was responsible for setting the fire.
