    A Fruita mother and her two young children, who were lost on Grand Mesa overnight between Thursday and Friday, walked at least 8 miles down the mountainside and made their way to a cabin near Cedaredge, arriving more than 24 hours after they were reported missing. Marshia Peterson, 40, and children, Signe, 10, and Zophie, 8, called authorities about their whereabouts about 2 p.m. Friday.

    A man who was arrested for stealing a car after attending an event in February at Two Rivers Convention Center, and later crashing the vehicle while drunk in Summit County later that night, was advised by a Mesa County judge Wednesday. Michael McEvoy, 43, was attending an Ultimate Fighting Championship event with his mother, according to an arrest affidavit, when McEvoy allegedly swiped the keys to the car from his mother's handbag, which was "cage side" unattended.

A warrant was issued for now 36-year-old Jennifer Lee Salaets on July 30, 2013, several months after Fruita police officers first responded to check on the welfare of a 13-year-old girl in Salaets' home in the 400 block of Cedar Glen Way, an affidavit for the warrant said.

That's what clerks in the county Motor Vehicles office, at 220 S. Spruce St., said they hear from customers who stream in daily to pay taxes, change titles, deal with liens and any number of other vehicle-related issues.
