    Bernadine Stetzel, a self-taught artist whose primitive style of painting spoke of childhood memories and historical milestones, and whose work earned national recognition, died Friday at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont. She was 89. Although she sold hundreds of her paintings, many remained in Bernadine Stetzel's Victorian home in Fremont.

    A Flat Rock, Ohio, man was killed Friday evening when his car was struck by a pickup truck that had been behind him when he slowed and turned into a private driveway on Hayes Avenue in Ballville Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported. A passenger in his car, Kim Davidson, 61, of Fremont, suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, troopers from the patrol's Fremont post said.

    A Flat Rock, Ohio man is dead after a crash in Ballville Township Friday evening, according to the Fremont Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. A car driven by Richard Black, 58, was westbound on Hayes Avenue near Third Street about 8:40 p.m. and was turning left into a private drive when it was struck by a truck driven by John Wynn, 72, of Indianapolis, also traveling westbound on Hayes, according to a statement released by the patrol.

He said there were full stringers and buckets of fish coming out of the river in the past few days, with minnows fished near the bottom working best since the muddy water made it tough for the white bass to see twister tails or spinners.
