Two Alabama men were arrested by deputies Wednesday after an altercation and vehicle pursuit in Fort White, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. A Columbia County woman died Wednesday evening when her truck collided with an elderly driver who was passing a vehicle in front of him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Margaret King Hollingsworth, 59, of Fort White, was traveling south on State Road 47 near Faul Court around 6:30 p.m. Troopers said Leonard Hall, 87, of Lake City, was traveling north on State Road 47. Hall attempted to pass a slower moving vehicle in front of him within a lawful passing zone, troopers said. Comment?
Acting on a tip about an indoor marijuana grow operation in a Fort White home, Columbia County detectives served a search warrant on a home on SW Wilson Springs Road on Thursday and found 73 plants growing and made three arrests. Arrested were Eduardo Leiva, 74, of Fort White, Alberto Broche, 45, of Tampa, and Mario Treto-Canepa, 50, of Tampa. Comment?
