Military family members from around the country gathered at Fort Stewart's Cottrell Field on Saturday to honor their lost loved ones and participate in the eighth annual Wreaths for Warriors Walk.

    Fort Stewart soldiers and family members, including 108 Gold Star family members, paid last respects Friday night to the 468 eastern redbud trees that once lined Warriors Walk. Limbs and logs from each tree were saved after the trees were replaced by crape myrtle trees in recent months.

    Willie J. Inman Sr. of Hinesville recently received an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from Sound Doctrine Bible Seminary in LaGrange. The Middle Georgia State College graduate earned a Bachelor's of Arts in business administration there and continued his education after retiring from Fort Stewart civil service as the pass-and-permit facility manager.

    Liberty County residents, Fort Stewart families and visitors from around the region turned out in droves Friday night for the 18thannual Illuminated Christmas Parade in Hinesville, presented by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau. Sidewalks along the parade route were jam-packed with spectators who sat on camping chairs, blankets and the curb, waving at the passing floats and waiting to catch a glimpse of Kris Kringle himself.
