    The City Council decided not to move forward with declaring Fort Bragg a sanctuary city, however the drafting of a document stating some of the community's core beliefs is underway. The document will be brought forward at a later date in resolution or proclamation form and will assert various principles such as a belief in freedom of religion, a dedication to human rights and the assertion that local law enforcement will not participate in any “sweeps” looking for illegal immigrants such as the one that took place in Fort Bragg in the 1980s when federal immigration enforcement showed up in town and demanded assistance.
