    New alternative transportation projects in Virginia will allow more residents to bike to Metro stations, walk to work and have safer routes to school. "We received about $7.6 million in funding requests projects for 15 projects across northern Virginia," planner Lamont Cobb told the "In Fairfax County, the Cinderbed Road Bikeway Project, which was a proposed bike trail, will connect the Franconia-Springfield Metro to employment centers in Fort Belvoir," Cobb told members of the region transportation board.

D.C.-based Novus Property Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Cafritz Interests, submitted plans to redevelop a 5.3-acre site at Richmond Highway and Fairview Drive with a 340-unit multifamily building.

    The Army confirms that a man accused of pulling a gun because he didn't like a restaurant's bill is a special agent. Fairfax County police said in a news release that 45-year-old Curtiss Davis, of Stafford, was arrested Dec. 23 in the Fort Belvoir area.
