As things stand now, operations at the 18.9 acre Fort Bayard cemetery are overseen by the administration at Fort Bliss National Cemetery outside of El Paso, Texas. That may change in coming months thanks to a recent MyVA Regional Alignment, which moves Fort Bayard from the same region as Fort Bliss to the newly-formed "Pacific Region."

    Veteran residents at Fort Bayard Medical Center will have a more comfortable year thanks to a donation of everything from blankets to a karaoke machine through the American Legion's Operation Comfort Warriors. American Legion representatives from the national and state levels joined members from local posts in Silver City, Santa Clara, and Las Cruces to unload a pile of $5,200 worth of goods for the 33 veteran residents and two veteran spouses who call Fort Bayard home.
