    A Florence County Sheriff's Office patrol deputy prevented a robbery by checking on a suspicious vehicle and alerting the owner of a convenience store on 303 Cale Yarborough Highway in Timmonsville. According to investigators, Najee Skinner Johnson, Jeremy Andrew Lee and Kegan Marcus Peterson were wearing masks and tried to rob the store after being let out of the vehicle by driver, Hannah Diane Gore, who then, parked adjacent to the business.

    The 2014 Elementary and Secondary Education Act, referred to as the federal report card, gave each school and district in South Carolina a score based on test scores, attendance and graduation rates. South Carolina earned a "B" on the report card with a score of 85.4. The state graduation rate grew one point higher to 75.1 from the 2012-2013 school year.

    Michael Richard Fields, Jr., 24, and Amanda Gayle Bryant, 30 were arrested by investigators with the Florence County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, October 21. The two suspects are accused of beating an elderly man in Florence County last month. Investigators said Fields and Bryant entered the home of the victim and brutally assaulted the victim, causing serious bodily injury to the victim requiring prolonged hospitalization.
