Flint police say that on November 28 of last year at about five in the morning, the subject arrived at a Marathon gas station on the 2900 block of North Saginaw Street, south of Leith Street.

    City spokesman Jason Lorencz said Monday that authorities have lifted their recommendation for residents to keep their water running to prevent costly damage from frozen pipes. He says "now that the weather forecast for Flint is calling for an end to double digit below zero temperatures, the risk to indoor plumbing has been abated enough to end the precautionary measure."

    The deep freeze can't quit Michigan, plunging temperatures well below zero across most of the state and breaking records in several places. The National Weather Service says the temperature in the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland area was 10 below zero early Monday, shattering the Tri-Cities record of minus 2. Other places breaking records are Grand Rapids at 8 below and Traverse City at minus 16. Flint is at minus 8, flirting with its record of 10 below zero.

    The M.A.D.E. Institute is giving free cases of water away from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Second Chance Baptist Church in Flint. Leon El-Alamin says the group plans to have at least 200 cases of bottled water to give away on a first-come, first-served basis.
