    Former Flemington Mayor Sandra Martin was recognized with the lifetime service award from the Georgia Municipal Association in recognition of her 36 years of service to the city. The award was presented to Martin in Flemington on Jan. 8. Martin was the second mayor of Flemington since the city's charter in 1941 and the first female mayor.

The storm that paralyzed much of Liberty County and coastal Georgia Jan. 3 didn't stop Dorothy Wedincamp of Flemington from taking her daily bike ride. The 91-year-old rides about two miles a day and has lived in Liberty County since she was 19. She is the mother-in-law of Ren Keel and mother of Faye Keel.

    According to Liberty County Sheriffs Office Detective Tracy Jennings, two men were shot Thursday evening in the parking lot of the La Quinta motel on East Oglethorpe Highway in Flemington Thursday. The men were sitting in a vehicle when an assailant approached the vehicle attempting to rob them and fired several rounds, wounding both men.
