    Some City Councilors are concerned about the price tag, but most approved of the library applying for a grant that could provide up to $12 million towards the estimated $31 million it would cost to renovate the library. In a 7-2 vote councilors voted to support the Fitchburg Public Library's grant application to increase the library by nearly a third from 45,000 square-feet to just under 60,000 square-feet.

    Two men and a woman are facing sex trafficking charges after allegedly abducting a Fitchburg 16-year-old and forcing her to perform a sex act on Saturday night, according to the Brockton Enterprise. Police arrested Doraine Sylvestre, 21, of Brockton, Keith M. Grace, 25, of Chelsea and Chinier Bennett, 19, of Boston after finding the victim inside an apartment on 29 Howard St., where she told police she was held hostage and forced to be a prostitute.

    A public hearing is scheduled at the Department of Public Utilities on Wednesday in which Unitil, Fitchburg's gas and electric utility, will present a pilot program that could increase customers' bills by 0.3 percent, a company spokesman said. The pilot program, which is apart of DPU policy, is designed to look at demand response when electricity levels reach "peak load" in the New England region, said Alec O'Meara, a spokesman for Unitil.
