Firefighters from departments including Depauville, Clayton, Chaumont, Fishers Landing and Alexandria Bay spent hours battling the blaze, beginning at about 1:30 a.m. Mark A. Daye, second assistant chief for the Depauville Fire Department, said the department believed the fire was caused by a wood-burning stove in the basement.
