Last year, the Wildcats handed the Trojans their first loss of the season, 45-26 in Ferriday as quarterback Desmond Hunter passed for 385 yards.

A short pass that went for no gain and three straight incompletions turned the ball back over to the Bullodgs with 1:21 remaining.

    One of the hot issues in the current session of the Louisiana Legislature, meeting at the state capitol in Baton Rouge, is the repeal of a law that currently mandates the wearing of a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle. Proponents of such a repeal site "freedom of choice" concerns, saying it should be an individual decision as to whether to wear or not wear a helmet.

    Is LSU a quitter? When the pressures mount, and things just don't go as planned, are there too many instances where the state's flagship university seems to walk away and pull the plug, with the hopes that the problem will just go away? I have written a number of columns over the years about the highs and lows of the state's flagship university and how, in the academic world, the administration has thrown good people under the bus. But I never thought I would see the day when a Tiger athletic team just gave up and quit.
