    A SWAT standoff in downtown Fernandina Beach ended early Wednesday afternoon when Nassau County deputies fired bean bags at a man who had been threatening to kill himself along North Second Street. Undersheriff George Lueders said William Desmond was arrested at 12:30 p.m. after the standoff, which started just before 3:30 a.m. in an upstairs apartment in the 200 block.

Nicholas Mitko Clark also faces a lifetime of supervised release and must forfeit the laptop computer and cellphone he used to commit the offense, according to prosecutors.
