    Mount Rainier swimmers and a diver, all seniors, led the Rams this season to the WIAA 4A Girls State Swim And Dive Championships at the King County Aquatic Center pool in Federal Way on Nov. 14-15. All are fondly liked by coach Chris Veraya, who called this a "special" team after the district meet, after having watched these senior young ladies grow from freshmen to seniors in his last three years coaching the Rams' swim team.

    The King County Housing Authority has been awarded rental subsidies from HUD that will enable it to support 33 formerly homeless veterans at the Multi-Service Center Federal Way Veterans Project that will break ground next month. The vouchers, part of a recent award of 92 vouchers received by KCHA through the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program, will provide ongoing rental subsidies at the first supportive housing complex dedicated to homeless veterans south of Renton.

Rainier clinched a seed into the SPSL 4A volleyball tournament with a 3-0 win against visiting Decatur on Thurs., Oct. 23, to forge a three-way tie for fifth place in the SPSL 4A North with a 4-4 league record as the final regular season matches on Mon., Oct. 27 loomed ahead. The Rams could finish fifth, sixth or seventh after the final match ups.

The Lady Rams scored a third game victory off the Titans, but that was too little, too late, in a momentum sense, anyway, as the Rams went on to lose the match in four sets, 11-25, 17-25, 25-22, 16-25, in South Puget Sound League North Division volleyball action inside the Todd Beamer gymnasium in Federal Way.

The answer is Travis Ishikawa of the San Francisco Giants. The Federal Way High School graduate became the first to accomplish the feat in the NLCS Thursday when he blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie and advance the Giants with a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
