    Criminal Sexual Conduct charges against a Farwell businessman were dismissed at a preliminary exam in early November, according to information from Clare County Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis. Dale Thrush, 41, of Farwell, had been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first and second degree and with children accosting for immoral purposes on August 21 for an incident involving a young child in his Surrey Township home.

Along with the snow came an arctic blast of cold air, which dropped temperatures into the single digits with wind chills of up to minus 20 degrees to mark the beginning of the first week of 2015.

    The weather was chilly, but the sun was shining Saturday when Clare's "Christmas in Downtown Clare" celebration wound up with tons of fun for everyone. In Clare there was Camp Santa on McEwan plus reindeer games, live reindeer, music, entertainment, cookie decorating, face painting, carriage rides, donut games, a Christmas Tea, Elf Run, Stocking Stuffers play, CMU's Pom Pons, a frozen t-shirt competition, chili cook off, pizza eating contest, Christmas bingo, S'mores and hot chocolate and Mrs. Santa was even on hand to pass out some candy to the youngsters and for the second year, a flash mob performed for crowds on McEwan.

    Two Clare County men, each with aliases, have been charged with felony charges and misdemeanor charges of defrauding customers over a nearly two-year period. The two, James M. Paulick, 36, of Lake and Chad A. Michalsky, 33, of Farwell, were charged in Saginaw County November 24 with a criminal enterprise of defrauding tree-removal customers between May of 2012 and February of 2014, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years.

    A 55-year-old Farwell man, Philip Lance Scott, died November 6 from injuries sustained in a two car crash on Beal City and North Isabella Roads. According to a press release from Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski, Scott was a front-seat passenger in a 2003 Honda Civic driven by his wife Pamela Ann Scott, 52. Mioduszewski said the accident happened Thursday morning around 11:46 a.m. when Pamela Scott, who was northbound on Isabella Road, ran a stop sign and hit a 1991 Jeep Wrangler driven westbound on East Beal City Road by Matthew Ken Kampf, 64, of Mt.
