Three students worked for two hours with the volunteers of the Save Our Forest branch of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy to weed, trim, and generally spruce up the first block of the Promenade.

    Two North County men were convicted today of taking part in a loan-modification scam that defrauded nearly 3,300 homeowners nationwide through a sham law firm. Dean Gregory Chandler of Fallbrook and Michael Eccles of Vista were found guilty of eight and five felony counts, respectively, following a three- week trial in San Diego.
