    A Lumberton man has been charged with beating and robbing a 72-year-old in Fairmont earlier this month, according to interim Police Chief Kimothy Monroe. Shawn Anthony Chavis, 26, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree burglary, common law robbery and assault inflicting serious bodily injury for forcing his way into the home of Douglas Powell, Monroe said in a statement.
