    The city is at 48 percent of last year's spending level halfway through Fiscal Year 2017, according to Mayor Brian Arrigo, but no free cash figure has been released yet by his office. Although other communities have released their figures, such as Chelsea which found it has $34 million in free cash and Everett has $8.3 million.

    The Revere High hockey team came from behind in both of its contests in its season-opening week to post victories over East Boston and Everett. The Patriots trailed for almost the entire game in both encounters, but refused to fold and battled back before eventually emerging with the lead by the time the final horn sounded.

    A heated, internal battle in Revere between a slot parlor developer and the mayor of that City has now spread to Everett with Wynn Boston Harbor officially opposing Question 1 on the November ballot - a question that seeks to put an additional slot parlor near a horse track, with the only likely proposal for that parlor being adjacent to Suffolk Downs in Revere. The Wynn Boston Harbor folks signaled before leaving for a large Wynn grand opening in China last month that they would like be coming out against Question 1, which would likely open the door to an Asian developer being able to petition the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to put a slot parlor license about two miles from the Wynn site.

    Mayor Brian Arrigo has released a statement regarding a proposed slots casino parlor and hotel at the site of Lee's Trailer Park on Revere Beach Parkway. There is a special election on the proposal on Oct. 18 and it will also appear as Question 1 on the statewide ballot on Nov. 8. Because of the statewide ballot question Gov. Charlie Baker has expressed his opposition stating it would not be good for the state.

    The City's Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a 60-unit residential development on a part of Revere Beach that developers said has been screaming for improvement for more than a decade. The 90 Ocean Ave. site, once home to the Lion's Den, has been approved in a 5-0 vote for a five-story, 60-unit building brought by Everett developer Greg Antonelli.
