The landing took place at 27421 Keyser Road, at the Sno-Fun Hunting Preserve, at about 5:15 p.m., as the Cessna 172 aircraft lost power as pilot Arthur Hurlbut and his son, Andrew, flew from Empire Farm Days in Seneca Falls to their home in Canton.

The town brought legal action May 20 against the village and its Planning Board seeking a determination on whether the Planning Board has the jurisdiction and authority to enforce village zoning laws against the town on property owned and used by the town for its highway garage and other buildings. The town has proposed erecting a building larger than currently exists at the site, as well as a new driveway that would run between two residences and connect with the intersection of Willow Street and Cemetery Road.
