    Well, that's the feeling Lucas Peaslee and Adrianne Bray, LadyCat soccer coaches at Ukiah High have after one team dropped out at the last minute, of the 12 team Wildcat Tournament scheduled for the weekend of August 28-29. “She's been e-mailing and texting all week, trying to patch this thing up,” Peaslee commented about Bray's hustling to get the 12 teams format restored for even competition throughout the busy two days.

    The Mendocino-Lake Community College District has finalized an agreement with the College of the Redwoods to have the district provide educational and student support services at the Mendocino Coast Campus in Fort Bragg through June 2017, both college districts announced. The project has been in the works for the past two years, both colleges said, and the coast campus has already been under the oversight of Mendocino College the past two semesters.

    The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday afternoon it was continuing its marijuana eradication and investigation of the Island Mountain area that started Monday with deputies from Humboldt and Trinity counties, based upon continued observations of “significant marijuana cultivation sites.” The MCSO's most recent report noted that specific details of the raid were still pending and more details would be made available at a later time. However, KAEF TV in Eureka previously reported the Humboldt County Drug Task Force seized 8,000 marijuana plants, 30 pounds of processed marijuana and four pounds of hash while serving search warrants.

    Mendocino College and the College of the Redwoods are currently engaged in discussions that could eventually transfer the responsibility of CR's Fort Bragg campus to the Mendocino-Lake Community College District sometime in 2017, according to a proposal. The rationale for the proposed change, states Redwoods Community College District's Substantive Change Proposal, is the long distance between CR's main campus in Eureka and the Mendocino Coast Education Center in Fort Bragg, a 127-mile drive one way.

    The rain took a little longer than first expected to reach Mendocino County Thursday, but by midnight a steady dousing had definitely begun.
