    The Colorado Department of Higher Education has awarded almost $2 million to 17 collaborative projects designed to recruit and retain more educators as part of the Plan Into Action grant program. The program was established in partnership with the Colorado Center for Rural Education as part of House Bill 18-1332, which was signed by Gov. John Hickenlooper in May. Plan Into Action grants fund partnerships among Education Preparation Programs and the school or school districts or Boards of Cooperative Education Services they serve, focusing on one of the following strategies: Increase the number of teachers trained through traditional and alternative teacher preparation programs to include teacher residencies and Grow Your Own programs.
