    A Cameron County woman told authorities that she came to the Poconos to work as a prostitute because she heard she could make good money on this side of the state. The Monroe County District Attorney's Office charged Shannon Knoke, of Emporium, with promoting prostitution, following her arrest Tuesday at a Smithfield Township hotel.

    A 35-year-old woman from Cameron County in north-central Pennsylvania was arrested Tuesday morning in Monroe County for allegedly engaging in prostitution. Shannon Knoke, of Emporium, told investigators she had worked as a prostitute for about a decade "and came to the Poconos because she heard she could make good money here," said Monroe County District Attorney's Office Chief Detective Eric Kerchner in a news release.
