    ELYRIA - Retired Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Pokorny has been named to handle Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Burge's docket for the rest of the year. The order by Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor was signed Friday, two days after Burge was indicted on misdemeanor and felony charges accusing him of having an unlawful interest in a public contract, soliciting improper compensation, tampering with records and falsification.

    ELYRIA - The county's General Division judges on Friday asked the Ohio Supreme Court to reject an effort by the Lorain County commissioners to quash a court order demanding they pay for security at the county's Adult Probation Department. Subodh Chandra, the lead attorney for the judges, argued that former Administrative Judge James Burge's August court order to pay $124,953 to county Sheriff Phil Stammitti was justified by security holes at the Probation Department's two offices.
