    The Linn County Sheriff's Office says 78-year-old Loretta Ray was headed east on Wright Brothers Boulevard at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday when her car went into the ditch near Spanish Road. Ray, the only person in the car, was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She is expected to recover.

    The forensics team working in rural Ely last week that may be connected to the unsolved homicide of a 51-year-old Marion man wrapped up its search Saturday. Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty said Thursday the team from the University of Indianapolis finished its work requested by law enforcement, but he couldn't say if anything was found at this time.

    Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Linn County Rescue, Ely Fire Department, and Area Ambulance Service responded to a 2 vehicle crash in the 8300 block of Ely Road just north of Ely. According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Iralee Jewett, Ely, rear ended a jeep driven by 23-year-old Anna Garnant, of Ely.

    A forensics search team was still working Friday afternoon outside a home in rural Ely that appears to be part of a missing persons investigation, but what - if anything - it has discovered remains a mystery. It was unclear how much longer the team from the University of Indianapolis would be at 397 Nederhiser Road at the request of law enforcement, “I can confirm they are working there today, but I can't speak to the future,” said Scott Hall, media relations director for the university.
