    Author and artist Maceo Montoya is the guest at the Winters Friends of the Library annual gathering at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Winters Community Library, 708 Railroad Ave. The event also includes a social hour with hors d'oeuvres created by the Winters High School Culinary Arts class and a brief overview of the group's activities over the past year. Montoya grew up in Elmira in a family of artists, including his father, Malaquias Montoya, a celebrated artist, activist and educator, and his late brother, AndrA s Montoya, winner of the American Book Award for poetry in 2000.

    Elizabeth Williams and Elizabeth Wynkoop, members of the Rover Clovers, and Samantha Forbes and Robert Wright, members of the Suisun Valley 4-H Club, received the highest county-level honor when named the newest Solano County All-Star Ambassadors at a recent awards ceremony held in Dixon. "They will serve in leadership roles at the county, sectional and state events," according to a statement released by the 4-H Program.
