A Miami, FL resident originally from Cuba, Camillo Rodriguez-Hernandez, 41, admitted to his role in stealing nearly $1.5 million in cigarettes from the Core-Mark cigarette warehouse in Leitchfield in March of 2011, and that he and others possessed the stolen cigarettes with the intent to convert the property for their own use.

    The Elizabethtown Independent School Board recently became the first local education oversight body in Kentucky to express collective hostility toward giving parents the option of a different type of public-school experience for their children. It passed a resolution claiming a charter-school policy "unilaterally takes critically needed funds from local school districts and redirects them to charter schools, thereby debilitating the significantly underfunded system of funding for public education for all Kentucky schools."

The City of Leitchfield was notified on Tuesday that James Conder, of Grayson County, and John Lewis, of Elizabethtown, were selected by the state Alcohol Beverage Control board to open quota package alcohol stores in the city, according to Leitchfield City Clerk/Treasurer Kim Sowders.
