    The Diocese of Gallup says it also will be getting tickets to a Papal Mass in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Diocese spokeswoman Suzanne Hammons said Wednesday the diocese will get 200 tickets for an open-air Mass scheduled for Wednesday.

    Santa Fe Archbishop John Wester says he will be traveling in the U.S.-Mexico border after all to see Pope Francis during his Ciudad Juarez visit this month. The Archdiocese of Santa Fe announced this week that Wester and other U.S. bishops will placed on a levee on the U.S. side of the border around 300 yards from where the pope is scheduled to speak.

    Dona Ana County authorities have obtained a warrant to arrest a man in the 2014 fatal stabbing in the Las Cruces area. The Sheriff's Office says it developed new information that implicated 19-year-old Lawrence Joshua Lucero and that he has been charged in the killing of 17-year-old David Escamilla.

    New Mexico State Police are looking for a vehicle that may be involved in a hit and run pedestrian fatality near mile marker 2 on State Road 478, just south of O'Hara Road, in Anthony, NM, on Sunday Jan. 24. NMSP say that the preliminary investigation indicated Ruben Benjamin Valenzuela, 22, of El Paso, TX, was walking southbound on State Road 478 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. According to NMSP, they are searching for a Dodge Ram pickup truck, possibly black or a dark paint color that may have been involved with the fatality.

The El Paso Times reports the U.S. Army Base announced the change Wednesday and said it would stop accepting New Mexico IDs because they aren't in compliance with the federal REAL ID Act.
