    April 19--Flames burst through the roof of a commercial building during a large fire Monday night in Downtown El Paso. About 40 firefighters gained control of the blaze at about 10:30 p.m., more than two hours after it was first reported at about 7:50 p.m. in a commercial building in the 600 block of Third Avenue next to South El Paso Street just south of East Paisano Drive, fire department spokesman Carlos Briano said The fire was a Condition Four, meaning that firefighters initially responding to the blaze called for additional help to keep flames from spreading to adjacent buildings in a retail shopping district near the border.
