    Cornelia “Katie” Van Lenten, 101, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, Stroudsburg.  She was born in Garfield, N.J., on Jan. 24, 1914, and was a daughter of the late John Stephen and Mary Dunkirk.  During World War II, Katie worked loading ammunition for Dupont in Pompton Lakes, N.J., and also worked for Curtis Wright as a secretary in Caldwell, N.J.  She attended Effort United Methodist Church in Effort.

A jury in 2012 chose a death sentence for Michael Parrish, 29, after convicting him in the June 2009 fatal shootings of Victoria Adams, 21, and their son, Sidney Parrish, 18 months, in the family's Effort home.
