    A 61-year-old man charged with burglarizing four Menlo Park restaurants pleaded not guilty in San Mateo County Superior Court on Feb. 13. Alfred Lee Banks of East Palo Alto was arrested Feb. 10 when a Menlo Park police officer noticed during a traffic stop that he allegedly matched the description of a burglar spotted on video surveillance footage from the restaurants. The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office said the charges involve burglaries at these Menlo Park restaurants: Jan's Deli on Alma Street , the Cool Cafe on O'Brien Drive, Galata Bistro on Santa Cruz Avenue and Mardini's Deli Cafe on Willow Road.

    A 61-year-old East Palo Alto man was arrested Feb. 10 in connection with burglaries at several Menlo Park restaurants, including Cafe Zoe on Menalto Avenue, Jan's Deli on Alma Street, Menlo BBQ on Willow Road, Galata Bistro on Santa Cruz Avenue, Mardini's Restaurant on Willow Road, and the Cool Cafe on O'Brien Drive, Menlo Park police said. Sgt. Kevin Paugh of the Menlo Park Police Department apprehended Alfred Lee Banks during a traffic stop after noticing that he matched a description.

    The East Palo Alto City Council on Tuesday night is scheduled to consider approving the construction of 41 affordable housing units for low-income seniors at 2358-2580 University Ave. But first the council will hold a public hearing on the University Avenue Senior Apartments project, which was proposed by the East Palo Alto Community Alliance Neighborhood Development Organization and Mid-Peninsula The Farm Inc. on July 2, 2014. According to a city staff report, the Planning Commission on Jan. 26 unanimously approved the project, which entails merging six adjoining lots, relocating 30 residents and demolishing two duplexes and four single-family homes.
