I have made a conscious effort to steer clear of discussions on the unrest in Charlotte and I have made a point of remaining neutral on the individual cases of police shootings - at least in public.

Wood Golf Tournament will tee off Oct. 3 at Smithfields Country Club in Easley with First Citizens as the Title Sponsor and John Ross Insurance as the Event Sponsor. The tournament raises money for the Promise Fund, which supports student scholarships and the areas of greatest need for the University.

    The students who attended the announcement learned that they will receive a Samsung tablet for school along with free wireless connectivity for three years courtesy of AT&T Aspire. Officials from the School District of Pickens County officials, along with representatives of AT&T and Samsung, announced Wednesday that students in the county's middle schools will receive free wireless connectivity for the next three years.

    The Seneca Bobcats had struggled as of late and the Easley Green Wave had been the victim of lost leads but Seneca came away with the 12-7 win on Friday night. Both teams showed up defensively and were able to slow down or stop one another all night, which made for a low scoring affair, but in the end Seneca's offense only needed two scoring drives to put the Green Wave away.
