    A wild hog crossing the roadway led to a late night accident in rural Maverick County late on Christmas Day that left three people dead, including an off-dury Border Patrol officer. Killed were Antonio Cordova, 27, of Eagle Pass, driving southbound in a Mercedes SUV, Ruby Garza, 51, of Uvalde, driving north in a Ford Expedition, and her passenger, Julia Acuna Vasquez, 51, from Uvalde, who died later at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.
