    A Duson man arrested Wednesday, accused of hit-and-run driving that injured a pedestrian, told police he left the scene because he thought someone had thrown something at his car when he felt the impact of hitting the 30-year-old woman. Police arrested Joshua Pitre, 35, who came forward Wednesday morning after television news stations aired information about a Tuesday hit-and-run accident involving a white, four-door car similar to his, Duson Police Chief Kip Judice said.

    Two weekend drug busts on Interstate 10 in which troopers recovered pounds of weed, thousands of ecstasy tablets and anti-anxiety pills and several pints of narcotic cough syrup, State Police reported Tuesday. Troopers arrested two Texas men during a 5:30 a.m. Sunday traffic stop on I-10 in Lafayette Parish after searching their 2007 Mercedes and finding 1,350 MDMA pills, 1,000 Xanax pills and four pints of Promethazine couch syrup, Troop I spokesman Brooks David said.

    A 31-year-old Duson man is accused of leading police from multiple agencies on a 17-mile chase Friday morning that began in Scott, passed through Lafayette and ended in Duson. Ryan Desormeaux was booked into the Acadia Parish jail and later transported to the Lafayette Parish jail on counts of aggravated flight from an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, inoperative tail lamps and two existing warrants for non-support, according to booking records.
