    Durant firefighters have fought several fires the past few days, including a house fire that was caused by a natural gas explosion. Firefighters were dispatched to 38 W. Locust St. and upon arrival, the house was engulfed with smoke while flames were coming out of the front of the home, according to a fire department report.

    A Madill man had to be transported to a Texas hospital after running off the highway Saturday afternoon near Cobb. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Jesse Lee Shrum, 43, was driving a 1994 Toyota pickup westbound on State Highway 78 when he ran off the right side of roadway less than three miles west of Cobb, struck a culvert and a mailbox post before coming to a stop.
