For a game still in the month of August, Tuesday's softball showdown between District 5A-4 unbeatens was far from deciding the league race but it definitely was worth a leg up for all-important playoff positioning.

    The Durant Lady Lions returned home Monday to easily dispatch Hugo, 13-0, while prepping for a rugged slate of dates on the DHS diamond over the remainder of the week. Hugo put up little resistance in the contest which ended in three innings on the run rule as the Lady Lions were able to put it in cruise control early on after a challenging weekend in which they finished 3-2 in the Shawnee tournament, splitting games on Saturday.
