    The Minot High School girls golf team secured a third-place finish to start the new season despite only placing one golfer inside the Top 10 on Friday at the Garden Gate Golf Course in Dunseith. Jones was 10 shots off the pace of eighth-grade medalist Leah Herbel from Century with a 73. Leah's twin sister, Hannah, took second place a stroke back at 74 to give Century the Top 2 finishers and the team victory with a score of 319.

    A Class A felony theft of property charge has been dismissed without prejudice against a Minot woman who had been accused of embezzling more than $200,000 from More Properties, LLC when she worked there as a property manager. Nicole Irene Kajune, 44, had been scheduled to go to trial on the charge on June 13 before Judge Thomas Schneider, a judge from the South Central Judicial District who had been appointed to preside over the case.

    A Dunseith man will serve up to 6 1/2 more years in prison for multiple felonies including possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and aggravated assault of a Rolette County deputy while he was reportedly high on meth on Feb. 24, 2017, according to a listing on the North Dakota Courts site. Court records show that Michael James Marion, 33, pleaded guilty on Monday to Class A felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, Class B felony escape, Class C felony aggravated assault, Class C felony attempting to disarm an officer, Class C felony prohibited possession of a firearm by a felon, and Class C felony resisting arrest.
