    A North Dakota man that escaped federal custody while awaiting sentencing in a manslaughter case, was sentenced to serve over 9 and a half years in federal prison. 29-year-old Sean Schroeder of Dunseith, North Dakota pled guilty to a voluntary manslaughter charge in February, and entered a guilty plea to an escape charge on Tuesday.

    They say 29-year-old Sean M. Schroeder walked away from Centre, Inc., in Fargo where he was on a court-ordered furlough from federal custody. Schroeder pleaded guilty in February to voluntary manslaughter for an incident last May in Dunseith, where he violently caused the death of another person.

    The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case of a suspect in a high-speed chase in Rolette County Friday night after the sheriff says the suspect died after suffering a medical condition in the jail. According to a press release from the Rolette County Sheriff, officers pursued a 52-year-old Belcourt man through multiple towns for roughly 45 minutes before arresting him in Dunseith, N.D., and took him to the Rolette County Jail.

    A Dunseith man accused of attacking a Rolette County deputy last February will avoid a trial after changing his plea, according to the Rolette County Clerk of Court's office. Investigators say that 33-year-old Michael Marion struck a deputy with a pair of brass knuckles during an attempted traffic stop.
