    The Dover City Council moved the ordinance along to a public hearing, set for Feb. 10. The ordinance would amend Chapter 131 of the City Code, which is titled “Offenses.” Currently, the use of tobacco products is banned in Henry Law Park, on school grounds and athletic fields, on McConnell Center grounds, and at the Dover Public Library. The amendment would additionally prohibit “electronic nicotine delivery systems” from each of these locations.

    Registration for all schools - Horne Street, Woodman Park and Garrison Elementary School - will be held on March 8 or 10 from 9-11 a.m. or 1-3 p.m., or March 9 from 1-6 p.m. For students registering for kindergarten, a 30-minute screening is also required to help teachers meet individual needs. For Garrison, these can be made for April 7, 12 or 14. For Horne and Woodman Park, screenings can be scheduled for April 19, 20 or 21. Evidence of health examinations is required for children starting school in September, so parents are urged to begin scheduling appointments with physicians now.
