    The Douglasville City Council voted Monday night to set the 2016 tax millage rate for city property tax owners at 6.911 mills for maintenance and operations and at 1.526 mills for general obligation bonds for the Public Safety and Municipal Court. Property values have increased in the city's tax digest by 5 percent, which means that if the city of Douglasville were to maintain last year's millage rate, the expected collection rate would bring in an increased $421,810.

    An Alabama woman was killed and her husband was injured in an accident on Interstate 20 near Douglasville Sunday night. Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel said Amanda Burns, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:48 p.m. and her husband, Cody Burns, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Daniel did confirm that a female victim at a home in that area had neck pain and woke up to lacerations on her neck.
