    Salem Township has been awarded an $800,000 grant to fund two tornado shelters and a warning siren that will be placed in Sandy Pines Campground Resort. Through collaboration with FEMA, the Michigan State Police Hazard Mitigation Division and the Allegan County Emergency Management Division, a threat assessment was done in Salem Township and a plan was developed by Allegan County that was approved by FEMA Region 5. "I am extremely proud of our team and the efforts put forth on these grant projects," said Salem Township supervisor Jim Pitsch.
