    Two men aboard a party bus were shot by a gunman in a passing vehicle early Saturday on the Bishop Ford Freeway near south suburban Dolton, Illinois State Police said. The bus was traveling north near 147th Street when a vehicle drove up alongside the bus and opened fire - hitting two men aboard shortly after 4:30 a.m., according to a state police sergeant.

    Some south suburban residents are charged with taking part in a fraud scheme to obtain state unemployment benefits using personal information of hundreds of patients of an Oak Lawn health care firm, the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago said Tuesday. Yoshimi Henry, 29, of South Holland; Brandon Pitts, 29, of University Park; Kewan Watts, 34, of Dolton and Ashley Weathersby, 33, of Blue Island are among six people charged with participating in a mail or wire fraud scheme, the U.S. attorney's office said in a news release.

    The death of a 51-year-old man who stopped breathing after a struggle with a Dolton police officer and hospital staff at Advocate Christ Medical Center earlier this year has been ruled a homicide, officials said. Solomon Agwomoh, whose wife, as special administrator of his estate, is suing Dolton over his death, was taken to the Oak Lawn hospital in police custody on March 10, suspected of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle crash in Dolton.

    Calumet City police officers acted with "utter disregard" for the safety of others last November when they initiated a high-speed, inter-jurisdictional pursuit of teenage shoplifting suspects that ended in a serious two-vehicle crash, a lawsuit filed by one of the fleeing vehicle's passengers alleges. Ahmad Norwood, 18, who filed suit against the city last week, claims the pursuit was undertaken in violation of Calumet City Police Department policy and continued even after it was clear doing so posed a risk of harm to others on the roadway.
